Minttu Tikka
Minttu Tikka, D.Soc.Sci. is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the CRAI-CIS research group. She is a media and communication scholar specialized in crisis and disaster research. She has expertise in media and social theory, media anthropology, sociology of disasters and digital ethnography. Minttu examined the changing roles of citizens in crises and disasters in her PhD dissertation conducted in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki. She is currently examining the practices and experiences of healthcare communication experts and media journalists during the COVID-19 crisis. She recently published articles on agency and participation of citizens, journalists and organizations in a hybrid media environment and co-authored the book Hybrid Media Events: The Charlie Hebdo Attacks and the Global Circulation of Terrorist Violence (Emerald, 2018). She co-edited a Finnish method book for the study of internet and social media.
